Biography:
Jônatas Zacarias, a native of Paulista-PE, earned his master’s degree in Musical Interpretation from the Universidade Federal da Bahia under the tutelage of Dr. Pedro Robatto. He then graduated cum laude with a degree in Music with a specialization in Instrument Pedagogy from the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. Jônatas has a certificate in Clarinet from the Centro Profissionalizante de Criatividade Musical do Recife.
Jônatas Zacarias has performed as soloist with the Orquestra Sinfônica do Recife, Orquestra de Câmara de Pernambuco, Orquestra Jovem do Conservatório Pernambucano de Música, and Orquestra Sinfônica da Universidade Federal da Bahia, in addition to performing recitals in several cities including Brazil, United States and Paraguay as a member of the clarinet quartet “Sopros de Pernambuco”.
As an enthusiastic advocate of the clarinet, Jônatas coordinated the VIII and XIII Brazilian Meeting of Clarinetists and the 1st Pernambucano Meeting of Clarinetists (2019). He is currently clarinetist of the Orquestra Sinfônica do Recife and Orquestra de Câmara de Pernambuco, member of the Clarinet Quartet “Sopros de Pernambuco”, and clarinet teacher at the Conservatório Pernambucano de Música.
