Gaetano Falzarano

Biography:

Gaetano Falzarano graduated from the School of Music “San Pietro a Majella” in Naples. He further honed his clarinet skills under the tutelage of Jack Brymer and Glen Martin. Gaetano was the top candidate in the clarinet and E-flat clarinet audition for the Opera-Symphony Orchestra of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, with which he collaborated from 1992 to 1998. From 1998 to 2012, he was a permanent member of the Financial Guard Band.

Gaetano has performed under the baton of renowned conductors such as G. Kun, D. Oren, P. Maag, M. Rota, O. Magar, K. Martin, Z. Mehta, K. Nagano, S. Mercurio, and R. Paternostro. He has won six national and international competitions and has recorded for Edi-Pan-Roma, Kicco Music-Milano, Santa Barbara, Studio&Studio, and RAI Radio in Rome.

From 2007 to 2010, he served as the artistic director of the European Youth Symphonic Orchestra of the Valmontone Foundation, where he recorded a live concert of Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A major, K. 622. Gaetano has performed in prestigious international theaters across Italy, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Germany, New York, China, and Japan.

Since 2013, he has been the principal clarinetist with the Orchestra Filarmonica, directed by Daniel Oren, at the G. Verdi Theatre in Salerno. Gaetano has also played at major European and international clarinet festivals. He currently teaches clarinet at the “G. Martucci” Conservatory of Salerno and is the artistic director of the SAMNIUM International Clarinet Competition and the director of ECA 2024. Gaetano plays on a Gold Expression Eddie Daniels Ligature, an RZ Bhoema clarinet, and Chedeville Kanter Cinema mouthpiece.
